Wabash is seeking a Mechanical Product Development Co-Op in West Lafayette, IN. You will assist on product development projects, design and test new and existing products, and collaborate across engineering, quality, and warranty teams at our Railyard location.

The role offers a 1-year commitment (Jan 2027–Dec 2027) with variable hours by semester, on-site work, and opportunities to contribute to cost and weight reduction efforts.

Formación

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME/MET) or equivalent.
• Some experience in product development and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
• Fundamental knowledge of manufacturability and material properties.
• Fundamental knowledge of DFM, structural design, and thermodynamics.
• Working knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
• Sensors, strain gauges and thermocouples a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office; strong written and verbal communication.
• Any SAP and PLM experience is a plus.
• Punctual, self-starter with good time management; record instructions clearly.
• Basic hand tools experience for sub-assembly in test lab.

Responsabilidades

• Engineering, testing and validation as it relates to Van Trailers and Truck Bodies.
• Assist in solving customer problems by identifying and developing product solutions.
• Collaborate to specify functional requirements and DFMEA; assist DVP&R development.
• Assist in testing methods creation and interpreting results.
• Support VA/VE and new product initiatives via Product Change Process.
• Assist manufacturing on quality improvement, lean projects, and equipment qualification.
• Assist with warranty issues to resolve customer concerns promptly.
• Assist internal/external corrective and preventive actions.
• Other duties as assigned.
