Job summary

Wabash invites a Mechanical Engineering/ME co-op to join our R&D team in West Lafayette. You will assist in designing, testing, and validating Van Trailers and Truck Bodies, supporting cost and warranty reduction while maintaining quality and safety standards.

You will collaborate with engineering, quality, and warranty teams; gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced transportation environment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, MET, or equivalent.
• Some experience in product development and 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
• Fundamental knowledge of manufacturability, materials, and DFbM/DFM basics.

Responsibilities

• Engineering, testing and validation as it relates to Van Trailers and Truck Bodies.
• Assist in solving customer problems by identifying and developing product solutions in terms of form, fit and function.
• Collaborate to specify functional requirements, assist in DFMEA and DVP&R per internal/external standards.
• Assist in the creation of testing methods and interpreting testing results.
• Support VA/VE and new products through the Product Change Process.
• Assist team with warranty issues and corrective actions as needed.
• Assist with manufacturing quality improvements and lean initiatives.
