Job description

Overview Merrick & Company is looking to add a Mechanical Piping Designer to our current team of designers. We are seeking a Designer to support various long term projects that start immediately at our Aiken, SC office. The ideal candidates will have a passion for nuclear related design and problem solving. Job Description The Mechanical Piping Designer will be responsible for the design of the mechanical piping systems, complying with piping standards and accepted industry practices. Responsibilities include preparation of 3D modeling of equipment and piping systems and development of detailed isometric drawings from the 3D model and equipment layout drawings. The designer will utilize CREO to design engineering drawings. The designer will generate mechanical and piping deliverables, taking direction from other disciplines. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, the designer will be responsible for generating designs to meet exacting technical standards and meets expectations for attendance and punctuality. Qualifications/Experiences Technical degree or Certification in drafting or piping design. CREO proficiency. Candidates with Zero (0) years of experience in piping design will be considered. Background in the development of piping systems design. Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design teams and taking direction from other disciplines. Experience in industrial or laboratory facility piping design. Required software competencies include MS Excel, MS Word, and Bluebeam. Knowledge or experience in the use of national standards including ASME B31.3 is a plus. Proficiency using AutoCad and Revit is a plus. Experience in DOE nuclear projects, particularly glovebox installations are a plus. Client projects for this position require US Citizenship. Physical Requirements Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
