Job summary

Exp Global Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Piping Designer to join the CAD team in Houston, TX. You will design, model, and document major energy projects including interstate pipelines and energy transition ventures, using AutoCAD Plant 3D and CADWorx, and collaborate with engineers, environmental teams, and land groups.

The role emphasizes ensuring data integrity with GIS integrations, maintaining standards, and supporting project deliverables with a strong focus on quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience.
• Experience on interstate oil/gas pipeline projects is required.
• Understanding of AutoCAD Plant3D for 3D modelling, P&IDs, ISOs, Site/plot plans, drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Create AutoCAD Plant 3D and CADWorx drawings for pipeline facilities.
• Coordinate with project teams to meet schedule and specifications.
• Ensure CAD drawings align with GIS data and project GIS databases.
• Assist in establishing standard operating procedures and QC checks.
• Travel to other offices for collaboration as needed.

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the CAD team, of the EXP Energy Servicesgroup based in Houston, Texas and have the opportunity to work on designing, permitting, and constructing major energy projects including high-pressure oil and gas interstate pipelines and energy transition projects such as Carbon Capture and Sequestration, CO2 pipeline and Hydrogen.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• AutoCAD Plant 3D pipeline related facilities; material specification, including 3D modelling, P&IDs, ISOs, Site/plot plan, plan and section drawings, general arrangements, BOMs.
• CADWorx drawing production for pipeline related facilities; including 3D modelling, P&IDs, ISOs, Site/plot plan, plan and section drawings, general arrangements, BOMs.
• Coordination with project teams to ensure that all deliverables are completed on time and meet the requirements specified.
• Prioritize tasks and balance workload according to project needs.
• Work on a regular basis with the 2 CAD team to maintain consistency betweenEngineering deliverables.
• Assist the engineering, environmental, civil survey, permitting, and land groups to ensure that all drafting needs are being met.
• Ensure that all data being used in CAD drawings, matches 100% with the project GIS databases.
• Work with Senior Drafting Technicians/CAD Leads to establish standard operating procedures and perform quality control checks on deliverables to ensure they are created in compliance with the established procedures.
• Occasional travel to other offices as needed for interaction with team members, clients, and project teams
• Bonus experience - AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing productionfor pipeline related projects; including site specific crossing drawings, construction typical drawings, pipeline facility layout and mechanical drawings, as-built alignment sheets, property sketches and plats, and permit drawings.
• Bonus experience - structural or concrete foundation design experience.
• Bonus experience - electrical, instrumentation, or controls design experience.

What your experience looks like

• A minimum of three (3) years of related professional experience.
• Experience working on interstate oil/gas pipeline projects is required.
• Understanding of AutoCADPlant3D in the context of preparingmaterial specification, including 3D modelling, P&IDs, ISOs, Site/plot plan, plan and section drawings, general arrangements, BOMs.
• Understanding of CADWorx in the context of preparing 3D facility model, P&IDs, ISOs, Site/plot plan, plan and section drawings, general arrangements, BOMs and provide training to other CAD staff.
• Understanding of how to integrate GIS data in CAD drawings to ensure all drawings are created using the latest approved project data from GIS.
• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D in the context of preparing site specific crossing drawings, construction typical drawings, pipeline facility layouts, mechanical drawings, as-built alignment sheets, property sketches and plats is a plus.
• Desired proficiency in building terrain models and generating profiles from civil survey and public data sources, preferably in both AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
• Basic ability in using ESRI ArcGIS Pro to review, compile, query, and export data for use in CAD drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Self-motivation to research and recommend new and innovative technologies.
• Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work in a team environment.
• Proficient knowledge of office productivity software including Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook
