Job summary

Nestlé Purina North America is seeking a Mechanical Packaging Specialist to lead technical support for packaging processes and independently manage moderately complex projects from concept to implementation.

The role focuses on mechanical packaging technology, collaboration with R&D, production, and marketing, and aims to improve efficiency, sustainability, and cost structure across manufacturing facilities. Travel is substantial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of mechanical packaging engineering experience in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 7+ years of mechanical packaging experience or relevant internship in pet food, CPG, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
• Must be able to travel 50-60% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop packaging systems to meet objectives and impact department results.
• Conduct feasibility studies and analyze package performance through testing and simulations.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, and marketing to align designs with product specs and branding.
• Evaluate packaging materials and processes with emphasis on sustainability and efficiency.
• Implement cost-reduction initiatives by assessing existing designs and opportunities for enhancements.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot packaging machinery and processes in facilities.
• Travel required: 50-60%.
