Butler America Aerospace, LLC. is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer for the 2nd shift in Windsor Locks, CT.

The contract role supports assembly and mechanical hardware for space missions, with hands-on lab and shop floor responsibilities to maintain execution readiness. Responsibilities include developing manufacturing methods, creating assembly instructions, and providing technical support to ensure builds meet engineering and quality standards.

Responsabilités

• Develop, refine, and maintain mechanical manufacturing methods on the shop floor.
• Create or update manufacturing assembly instructions for technicians.
• Provide daily technical support to production operators and lab personnel to meet requirements.
• Troubleshoot hardware issues during lab assembly.
• Identify improvements to build quality, reduce rework, and streamline activities.
• Ensure shopfloor processes follow EH&S and quality standards.
• Review build challenges with technicians and address producibility concerns.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with production and quality.

Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer - 2nd Shift

Location: Windsor Locks, CT

Duration: 6-12 months contract

Pay Range: $42-46 - W2 hourly

Position Overview

• Support production and assembly of mechanical hardware used in life support and thermal control systems on Orion/Artemis missions.


• Provide hands on engineering support directly in the lab and on the shop floor to resolve build issues and maintain execution readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, refine, and maintain mechanical manufacturing methods used on the shop floor.


• Create or update clear manufacturing assembly instructions for technicians.


• Provide day to day technical support to production operators and lab personnel, ensuring builds meet engineering and quality requirements.


• Support troubleshooting hardware issues occurring in the lab during assembly.


• Identify and implement improvements to build quality, reduce rework, and streamline hands on manufacturing activities.


• Ensure shopfloor processes follow all EH&S and quality standards.


• Review build challenges with technicians, address producibility concerns, and recommend better tooling, fixturing, or process changes.


• Support cross functional collaboration with production and quality during daily manufacturing activities.

Qualifications

• STEM bachelor's degree with relevant experience.


• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work hands on in a lab or shop environment.


• Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting processes and coordinating cross?functional work.


• Experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP/Solumina) for tracking work orders and build status.


• Strong organization and time management skills to support multiple hardware builds and priorities on 2nd shift.


• Adaptability, initiative, and the ability to work independently during off shift operations.
