Job summary

SMS group is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair factory equipment, industrial machinery, and associated electrical systems.

The role requires repairing or replacing components, disassembling machinery, troubleshooting electrical systems (PLCs, VFDs), reading blueprints, welding, and recording maintenance activities. The position operates on a 4 on 4 off schedule with days and nights and offers competitive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Repair or replace broken components of machinery and equipment.
• Disassemble equipment to remove parts and perform repairs.
• Troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems including PLCs and VFDs.
• Observe operation to diagnose malfunctions using testing devices.
• Record repairs and maintain documentation; manage parts orders.
• Program computer-controlled machinery and verify operations.
• Explain equipment functions to operators.
• Cut and weld metal to repair or fabricate parts.

A Mechanical Maintenance Technician will maintain and repair factory equipment, industrial machinery, and associated electrical systems.

The right candidate will

• Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
• Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and preform preventative maintenance on complex electrical systems, including Programable Logic Controllers (PLCs), control circuits, communication systems, I/O field devices, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and motors.
• Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
• Industrial Machinery Assembler Mechanic Repair, install, adjust or maintain industrial production and processing machinery.
• Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
• Examine parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear.
• Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
• Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
• Record parts or materials used an order or put in a requisition for new parts or materials, as necessary.
• Record repairs and maintenance performed.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
• Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
• Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
