Job summary

Chemtrade is seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician in Leeds, SC to help keep a chemical plant running safely. You will inspect, repair, and maintain equipment, document work orders, and ensure parts are on hand.

The role requires 3+ years in industrial setting, CMMS experience, and ability to read safety rules and schematics; on-call for emergencies and 8-hour shifts with potential long days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in industrial or chemical manufacturing (preferred).
• Comfort with computers and Microsoft programs; CMMS experience.
• Ability to read/interpret safety rules, O&M instructions, manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Willingness to complete job-specific training and certification programs.

Responsibilities

• Execute certified welding, cutting, and burning for plant repairs.
• Rebuild and repair rotating equipment and perform precise coupling/sheave alignments.
• Install, modify, and maintain process and utility piping; tank openings and clean-outs; general facility upkeep.
• Operate mobile equipment including man lifts and forklifts.
• Replace and torque nuts/bolts on pipe flanges from 1" to 48" diameter.
• Complete work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and safety documentation accurately.
• Report operational non-conformances promptly and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with Plant Manager on parts used and required to complete jobs.
• Maintain weekly timesheets and uphold plant Rules & Regulations; attendance and punctuality.
• Follow SOPs and site programs, including RMP/PSM and safety protocols.

Location: Leeds, SC

Reports to: Plant Manager

Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift; on call when needed

Compensation: $32.00–$35.00 per hour

A Day in the Life

Sun up in Leeds, SC—you suit up, check the day’s work orders in the CMMS, and walk the process area. You might open and clean a tank vessel, swap a valve on a process line, or align a motor and gearbox to bring a critical pump back online. You document your work neatly, flag non‑conformances, and collaborate with the Plant Manager to ensure the right parts are ordered and on hand. By day’s end, the plant is running smoothly—and safely.

What You’ll Do

• Rebuild and repair rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, motors) and perform precise coupling/sheave alignments.
• Install, modify, and maintain process and utility piping; perform tank openings and clean‑outs; complete general facility upkeep.
• Operate mobile equipment, including man lifts and forklifts.
• Replace and torque nuts/bolts on pipe flanges ranging from 1" to 48" diameter.
• Complete work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and safety documentation accurately and legibly.
• Report operational non‑conformances promptly and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with the Plant Manager on parts used and parts required to complete jobs.
• Maintain weekly timesheets and uphold plant Rules & Regulations, including excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Follow all SOPs and site programs, including RMP/PSM, operating procedures, and safety protocols.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

• Climb stairs and ladders; lift within OSHA guidelines.
• Work outdoors in radiant heat or cold; perform tasks in ~100°F ambient temperatures while wearing acid‑resistant PVC rain suit (topcoat, pants, rubber boots, gloves, face shield).
• Work standard 8‑hour shifts with intermittent 14–16 hour days for emergency repairs; respond to off‑shift callouts, including weekends and holidays.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing environment (strongly preferred).
• Comfort with computers and common software (Microsoft programs, email) and experience with a maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Ability to read/interpret safety rules, O&M instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer literature, diagrams, and schematics.
• Willingness to complete job‑specific training and certification programs.
