Job summary

Chemtrade is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Leeds, SC to perform maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance on plant equipment and facilities. You will handle welding, pump and motor repairs, piping work and ensure compliance with safety procedures.

Expect 8-hour shifts with possible extended hours for emergencies. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 3+ years in an industrial or chemical environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience in industrial or chemical environment preferred.
  • Ability to use computer effectively, Microsoft programs, maintenance management system, e-mail, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, diagrams or schematics.
  • Must be able to complete job function training and certification programs.
  • Ability to work off-shift including weekends and holidays.

  • Repair pumps, gearboxes and motors; align couplings and sheaves.

Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Leeds, SC

Reports to: Plant Manager

Compensation: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour

Scope of the Position

Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for but is not limited to maintaining, rebuilding, repair, and the preventative maintenance of all plant operating equipment and facility buildings. Responsible for ensuring all related SOP's and plant rules pertaining to RMP, PSM, safety, operating procedures, and personal conduct are followed. Responsibilities of this job requires diversity in mechanical ability to perform overall plant maintenance. Work includes tank vessel opening and clean outs, changing of piping, valves and general plant upkeep and maintenance .This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines). This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform certified welding, cutting, and burning. Perform pump, gearbox and motor repair.
  • Perform mechanical power transmission coupling and sheave alignment. Responsible for the process and utility piping. Inform Plant Manager of need to order parts consumed or for job completion.
  • Complete all work instructions (work orders) and forms relating to maintenance, safety, and preventive maintenance, keep paperwork neat and clean.
  • Timely reporting of any non-conformance issues in operations and make recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Operation of the following mobile equipment: Man lift, Forklifts and other mobile equipment Replacement of nuts and bolts in pipe flanges ranging in size from 1\" - 48\" diameter flanges.
  • Physical capability of performing tasks in 100 degree ambient temperatures while wearing Protective Personal Protection such as Acid Resistant approved PVC rain suit (topcoat, bottom pants, rubber boots, gloves and face shield). Must be able to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14 - 16 hour days for emergency repairs.
  • Maintain weekly time sheets in accurate format. Follow all plant Rules & Regulations including lack of tardiness and absenteeism.
What You Need To Be Successful
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. More than 3 years of relevant experience in industrial or chemical environment highly preferred.
  • Ability to use computer effectively, Microsoft programs, maintenance management system, e-mail, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, manufacturer's literature, diagrams or schematics.
  • Must be able to complete specific job function training and/or certification programs.
  • Ability to work off-shift requirements including: periodic emergency call out during off shift, including weekends and holidays.
