Job summary

The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a journeyman-level maintenance technician to install, repair, maintain and test mechanical systems such as pumps, fans and compressors. The role includes on-call duties and possible weekend coverage to support campus operations.

A high school diploma or GED is required with at least 1 year of relevant maintenance experience. A Texas driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1 year experience in maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems with basic electrical, plumbing and building automation knowledge.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and repair of pumps, fans, compressors, etc.
  • Sets up rigging required to set pumps/fans; uses precision instruments to verify belts, chains, couplings, bearings and other drive components.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, lubrication, inspections, and replacement/adjustment of packing and seals.
  • Reads blueprints, follows specifications, and adheres to written and verbal instructions.
  • Assists other trades to meet operational university needs.
  • Must maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driver rating per UT Dallas policy.

Job Summary

Performs journeyman level work in the installation, repair, maintenance and testing of mechanical systems, including pumps, fans, compressors, and other associated components; and other duties as assigned. Maintain a flexible work schedule including being on-call. Must be willing to work occasional weekends or cover shifts.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent. An equivalent level of experience is acceptable in lieu of a High School diploma or GED . 1 year experience in maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems with some basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing and building automation. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Vocational/Technical Diploma

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Work Notice: Work will be performed on site and in-person.
May be required to report to on-site work location during campus closure.
May be required to report to on-site work location during inclement weather.
Hours: This is a 2nd shift position (2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.).
