Job summary

Air Liquide in Geismar, LA is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to maintain steam, water and chemical process equipment at our Industrial Utilities plant. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, document work orders in the CMMS, and ensure safety and reliability in a demanding facility.

The role requires 6+ years in plant maintenance with pipefitting or millwright experience, strong safety discipline, and ability to work nights, weekends, and callouts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 6+ years in plant maintenance, pipefitting or millwright work.
• Experience with compressors and pumps is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain steam, water and chemical process equipment per plant standards.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and complete MAXIMO work orders.
• Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and safety requirements.
• Assist with planning and scheduling mechanical maintenance activities.
• Document equipment conditions and PM activities in CMMS.

Maintain steam, water and chemical process equipment for an Industrial Utilities plant.

Job Duties:

• Support our shared commitment to zero personal first-aid cases and injuries.
• Active participation in the LIVES program. Fully comply with all Air Liquide policies, procedures, and Responsible Care guidelines.
• Perform maintenance tasks including the completion of MAXIMO work orders.
• Bring familiarity with and adhere to the Safe Work Permit process.
• Perform general mechanical tasks, including repairing and overhauling pumps.
• Replace mechanical seals, packing, gaskets, valves, and fittings. Pull and clean exchanger and cooler bundles.
• Perform equipment alignment (laser alignment experience welcomed).
• Carry out work orders and document critical field measurements in the CMMS.
• Prepare detailed Job Work Plans and complete planned mechanical jobs in collaboration with supervision.
• Identify corrective maintenance needs and submit detailed work requests in CMMS.
• Assist with the planning and scheduling of mechanical maintenance activities.
• Perform routine equipment inspections in accordance with Air Liquide corporate standards.
• Actively participate in optimizing mechanical Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs.
• Contribute to our team's ongoing commitment to continuous reliability improvement.
• Maintain accurate equipment records, logs, and manuals in both physical and digital formats.
• Stay familiar with Reliability Center guidelines and company standards.
• Support and assist other maintenance crafts as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required, plus 6+ years in plant maintenance activities (pipefitting or millwright background preferred).
• Able to use precision tools to obtain and document as-found and as-left measurements.
• Knowledge of compressors and pumps, including different types, sizes, fluids, and designs.
• Proficient in the use of a CMMS system.
• Expertise in operating heavy equipment (Forklift, JLG, and possible 18-ton crane).
• Knowledgeable in safe work practices, safety procedures, emergency procedures, and other safety requirements.
• Expertise in the proper methods of locking out and blinding rotating equipment, with the ability to distinguish all possible sources of energy in a system.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with full range of motion, climb ladders and elevated surfaces, work in non-climate-controlled environments, and enter confined spaces.
• Ability to work callouts, nights, week-ends, & possible holidays.
• Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Laser alignment experience is preferred.
