Job summary

Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician in Apple Grove, WV. This role demands hands-on expertise with industrial equipment, hydraulics, and precision tools, not an entry-level position.

You will work 50+ hours weekly on 10-hour shifts, with day and night options. The assignment is approximately 3 months, with a possible temp-to-hire path and potential permanent placement after the assignment ends.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent technical training.
• Fluent English language skills.
• 5+ years of experience in a steelmaking plant (arc furnace, casting, or rolling maintenance).
• Ability to read hydraulic and mechanical drawings as well as P&IDs.
• Knowledge of measuring tools including micrometers and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain machinery, ensuring proper assembly, setup, maintenance and operation readiness.
• Inspect alignments, bearings, and rollers; perform QC inspections.
• Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install and maintain hydraulic equipment; lubricate and weld as needed.
• Adjust equipment for proper operating gears, bearings and shafts; use appropriate machines.
• Lay out, install, maintain and repair pipelines, fittings, fixtures and pressure systems.

What You'll Do

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of tasks to ensure machinery and equipment are properly assembled, set up, maintained, and ready for operation.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage the Segment Mold Shop.
• Check alignments.
• Check bearings.
• Check rollers.
• Perform QC inspections.
• Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, and assemble hydraulic equipment.
• Lubricate mechanical equipment and perform welding repairs when necessary.
• Adjust equipment for proper operating gears, bearings, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits.
• Operate simple machine tools, including drill presses, pipe-threading machines, power saws, and similar equipment.
• Perform mechanical repairs on cranes and mobile equipment.
• Lay out, install, maintain, and repair pipelines, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems.
• Repair leaks in hydraulic systems.
• Remove and install complete operating components, including cylinders, oil motors, four-way valves, and check valves, and make necessary repairs.
• Change, set up, and adjust equipment as required by operating conditions.
• Utilize required computer systems for planning, executing, and reporting.
• Utilize mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment, computer equipment, and a variety of precision instruments as necessary.
• Perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed.

Team Environment

• Work in ateam settingand complete tasks in groups.
• A designatedLead will provide instructions and directionto associates.
• The Lead is responsible forpaperwork and record keeping.

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical training.
• Fluent English language skills.
• 5+ years of experience in a steelmaking plant, with arc furnace, casting, or rolling maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic and mechanical drawings as well as P&IDs.
• Skilled in the use of tools.
• Knowledge of measuring tools, includingmicrometers and calipers.
• Certification in forklift, various overhead cranes, man-lifts/scissor lifts, and other mobile equipment is preferred.
