Job summary

Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. seeks an Equipment Maintenance & Repair technician to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems on high-volume automotive components within a stamping and robotics environment.

You will perform preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, and PLC-controlled equipment, read schematics, and support tooling changes. Knowledge of Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs and safety compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required as baseline education.
• Technical/industrial maintenance training preferred.
• Experience with maintenance of electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain automated lines, stamping equipment and robotics.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on motors, conveyors, gears and PLC systems.
• Troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) to resolve production issues.
• Support line changeovers and tooling changes.
• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams to determine repair procedures.
• Calibrate, align and balance machines; dismantle and move equipment as needed.

Job description

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.


• Maintain automated assembly lines, stamping equipment, and robotic systems.


• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on motors, conveyors, presses, gearboxes, and PLC-controlled equipment.


• Troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens or equivalent) to identify and resolve production issues.


• Replace sensors, drives, bearings, belts, and actuators as required.


• Support tooling changes and line changeovers.


• Familiar with wiring diagram and how to use and fundamentals of electricity


• Reads blueprint schematics, manuals and other resource material to determine work procedures, faulty components and process of repair.


• Maintains quick access to critical component parts for each machine and piece of equipment


• Calibrates, aligns and balances machines and equipment.


• Dismantles machines and equipment for repair or movement.


• Operates diagnostic and repair equipment in the performance of maintenance duties such as circuit testers, voltmeters, and other tools as required.


• Performs electrical and electronic repairs to the component or board level. May provide leadership to maintenance workers on special assignments.


• Assesses and recommends disposition on replacement or repair of equipment.


• Handles hazardous materials and liquids such that spills and leaks are prevented and all such materials are contained in compliance with EPA requirements.


• Participates on safety committee.


• Monitors unscheduled machine downtime due to mechanical breakdown, electrical problems, wear and tear, etc.


• Maintain logs as required on downed machines, preventative maintenance schedules, purchase orders, and on maintenance performed daily.


• Perform various other duties as assigned.

Automation & Controls

• Assist with programming modifications and system improvements (as qualified).


• Work with engineering to improve uptime and equipment performance.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.


• Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.


• Participate in safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Ensure all repairs meet commercial vehicle quality and safety requirements.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.


• Participate in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives.


• Support lean manufacturing and uptime improvement projects.


• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation in CMMS.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.


• Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Mechanical or related field preferred.


• 1-2 years of related work experience and/or training experience


• Experience maintaining electronics, mechanics, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment applications and repair.


• Experience or equivalent education with programming and troubleshooting PLCs


• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.


• Experience in automotive or high-volume assembly operations preferred.


• Experience with automated production equipment and robotics strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting (gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics)


• Electrical troubleshooting (24V–480V systems)


• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings


• Basic welding and fabrication skills


• Forklift license, preferred

Work Environment

This position operates in a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility producing windshield wiper components including blades, arms, linkages, and motor assemblies.

Salary Range : $28.00-$36.00 (depending on years of experience and hands on skill set)
