Job summary

Marshalls plc in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a mechanical bias to join our busy Maintenance Team. You will ensure the continuous running of the production process by fault-finding and maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic control systems.

The role requires a 42-hour week with a day/night rotating pattern, a strong emphasis on safety, and opportunities for development within a leading UK building materials company.

Qualifications

• Time served/apprentice trained in a similar position with qualifications.
• Good understanding of environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Hands-on, practical approach with strong plant maintenance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Ensure continuous running of the production process by reducing downtime.
• Fault-find and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic systems.
• Work on a variety of equipment with a safety-focused approach.

This is the perfect time for a hard-working and experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer with a mechanical bias, to join our busy Maintenance Team.
So, what's the mission?
Your main responsibilities will be to ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault-finding and maintenance of equipment. You will work on various types of equipment including complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic control systems.
Working 42 hours per week, the current shift pattern covers days and nights, Monday – Sunday.

What are the mission critical skills?

• A good mechanical working knowledge with electrical experience is essential
• Time served/apprentice trained in a similar position with qualifications (C&G 2320 P1 & P2, ONC, NVQ 3 or equivalent)
• Good understanding of current environmental, health, and safety issues and knowledge of regulatory requirements
• Practical hands‑on approach
• Have significant experience, understanding, and knowledge of the maintenance of a variety of plants
• Experience in electrical fault finding, defect rectification, and routine maintenance activities
• Ability to interrogate/understand maintenance problems to provide accurate plant condition information/recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills, dealing with operatives, Team leaders from both maintenance and production
