Qualifications
  • BS in engineering with at least 2 years of machine design engineering experience
  • Experience that shows you can design and build complex machines (such as 3D printers). This may include professional experience and/or significant hobbies. To put it simply, proven ability to make things work.
  • A broad skill set in mechanical design, engineering, and physics.
  • Ability to spec out and build systems using motors, controllers and wiring, sensors, pumps, pneumatics, etc.
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Experience with tools.
  • Specific expertise in mechanical design, CAD, and DFM is required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Communication skills
  • Project management skills are a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and improve 3D printers and other manufacturing equipment that include mechanical, optical, electrical, software, fluids, pneumatics, etc
  • Develop and conduct well-designed experiments (on 3D printers and related manufacturing/processing equipment) to characterize and improve the performance of the process.
  • Develop process and design documentation that will form the basis for the production of additional machines as well as quality assurance systems for existing machines.
