Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking a Mechanical Intern for Summer 2027 in New York to support HVAC design and sustainable building solutions. Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural, Civil, Environmental or Sanitary Engineering.
• Coursework in mechanical/HVAC design, heat transfer, fluid dynamics or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with BIM software (Revit/AutoCAD) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports.

As a Mechanical Intern, you will learn about HVAC systems and collaborate with architects and other engineers to develop creative, energy‑efficient buildings that provide aesthetics to their physical surroundings and utility to their occupants. Your skills and experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering preferred; however, candidates pursuing related engineering degrees such as Civil, Environmental or Sanitary Engineering are encouraged to apply
• Coursework in mechanical/HVAC design, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and/or thermodynamics
• Familiarity with BIM modeling software, such as Revit and AutoCAD, a plus
• Internship experience at engineering related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
• Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
