Job description

Industry: Chemical Manufacturing / Process Industry

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Integrity (MI) Program Specialist to support a large industrial manufacturing facility in Oklahoma with the organization, standardization, and continued development of its Mechanical Integrity program.

This is not solely an API inspection role. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting or managing Mechanical Integrity programs, with particular strength in MI procedures, piping and pressure vessel programs, documentation, and MI/asset integrity databases.

The consultant will work closely with site engineering, maintenance, reliability, and inspection personnel to consolidate existing MI documentation, identify gaps, develop standardized procedures and forms, and help structure existing MI information within the site's asset management system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and consolidate existing Mechanical Integrity documentation across multiple formats and sources.
  • Restructure MI documentation to create a more standardized, equipment/entity-based approach.
  • Review existing documentation to distinguish Mechanical Integrity procedures from maintenance procedures and separate them appropriately.
  • Develop, revise, and format MI procedures, standards, forms, and templates.
  • Identify gaps within the existing MI program and assist in developing new procedures where needed.
  • Support MI programs associated with process piping, pressure vessels, and other fixed equipment.
  • Review and organize existing equipment and inspection information for consistency and completeness.
  • Assist with structuring, standardizing, and organizing MI data within the site's asset performance/inspection management system.
  • Support the implementation and rollout of the site's MI database.
  • Help ensure MI documentation and processes align with applicable PSM requirements, industry standards, and site practices.
  • Collaborate with plant engineering, reliability, maintenance, and inspection teams to create a sustainable and user-friendly MI documentation structure.
Ideal Background
  • Strong experience with Mechanical Integrity programs within chemical, petrochemical, refining, fertilizer, oil & gas, or another PSM-regulated industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, revising, consolidating, or standardizing MI procedures and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of piping and pressure vessel Mechanical Integrity programs.
  • Experience working with Mechanical Integrity, inspection, asset integrity, or asset performance management databases.
  • Experience with APM, PCMS, Meridium, IDMS, UltraPIPE, or similar systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience organizing, cleaning, migrating, or implementing MI/inspection data within a database is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of damage mechanisms, inspection planning, inspection intervals, and fixed-equipment integrity.
  • Familiarity with OSHA PSM Mechanical Integrity requirements and applicable API standards.
  • API 510, API 570, API 571, API 580/581, or related certifications/knowledge are beneficial but are not the sole focus of the position.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple plant stakeholders.
What We're Looking For

The strongest candidate will bring a combination of technical Mechanical Integrity knowledge and program/documentation experience. We are particularly interested in professionals who have helped build, improve, standardize, or implement an MI program rather than solely performing field inspections.

This individual should be comfortable taking an existing MI program with documentation and data spread across multiple sources and helping transform it into a structured, standardized, and maintainable program and database.
