Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in installation leadership or related role.
  • Experience with material handling systems required; AGVs/AS/RS/conveyors preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead direct reports including supervisors, foremen, and crews; conduct performance reviews and 1:1 meetings.
  • Plan and manage daily/weekly installation activities to hit milestones; oversee pre-commissioning.
  • Coordinate subcontractors; manage labor requests and communication.
  • Interface with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Managers, and customers; support reviews.
  • Enforce installation standards; promote safety and document procedures.
  • Drive Kaizen and process improvements to boost efficiency.

Dematic is seeking an Mechanical Installation Manager to support the Lifecycle Solutions and Services (LSS) Modernizations and Upgrades group. This role is responsible for managing full lifecycle installation activities, including pre-quote support, planning, execution, and commissioning of small to mid-sized projects. The Installation Manager will lead field resources, subcontractors, and installation teams while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and Dematic installation standards. This role requires strong coordination with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and customers to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget. This position requires flexibility, including travel up to 25%, on-call responsibilities, and the ability to support off-shift and weekend work as needed.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $113,600-$170,400 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications: Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Resource Management
  • Manage direct reports including supervisors, foremen, and crews
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and bi-weekly 1:1 meetings
  • Lead hiring and interviewing activities
  • Manage manpower planning, headcount forecasting, and workforce allocation
  • Approve employee timecards and expenses
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Project Management & Execution
  • Plan and manage daily/weekly installation activities to meet project milestones
  • Oversee mechanical, electrical, and mechatronics pre-commissioning activities
  • Perform cost reviews and track installation financial performance
  • Prepare and review quotes, RFQs, and bid packages
  • Support Sales (SDG) with estimates and customer-driven solutions
  • Forecast monthly installation costs and maintain reporting tools
Subcontractor & Resource Coordination
  • Schedule subcontractors and issue contract labor requests
  • Manage subcontractor communication and performance tracking
  • Order materials, consumables, and equipment rentals
  • Track equipment inventory and ensure resource availability
  • Support procurement, PM, Site Manager, and Supervisors with: Extra Work Authorizations (EWA) Change Order (CO) management
Customer & Cross-Functional Interface
  • Interface with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Managers, and customers
  • Participate in project review meetings and post-mortem reviews
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in installation practices
  • Support and resolve escalations; escalated to Director when required
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce Dematic installation standards, processes, and procedures
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture
  • Reporting & Documentation
Continuous Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement through Kaizen funnel participation
  • Identify and implement process and procedure improvements
  • Support operational efficiency initiatives and best practices
