Job summary

Stellar Technology is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to perform in-process and final inspections of machined components. The role requires reading blueprints, GD&T, and operating CMMs and Keyence equipment to verify conformance with customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, basic CMM programming, and a detail-oriented mindset for accurate record keeping. OT may be required in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read micrometers, calipers, optical measurement systems, CMMs and other measuring equipment.
  • Read blueprints and have working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Able to interpret drawings and Manufacturing Work Instructions.
  • Detail-oriented with accurate record keeping.
  • Basic CMM programming abilities preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively with management, machinists and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspection of machined parts and assemblies using precision measuring instruments.
  • Program and maintain programs for the Keyence IM machine.
  • Complete Final Inspection forms and related documentation.
  • Record measurement results and ensure compliance with work orders.
  • Use inspection fixtures, gauges and devices to assure accurate measurements.
  • Assist in calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
  • Participate in LEAN projects and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to address quality issues and nonconformances.

Mechanical Inspector

Salary Range: $21.00 To $25.00 Hourly

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing mechanical and CMM in-process and final inspection of machined components to confirm all operations have been completed per customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs and trains on dimensional inspection of machined parts and assemblies using precision measuring instruments and devices.
  • Programs and maintains programs for the Keyence IM machine.
  • Completes Final Inspection forms.
  • Completes appropriate documentation to record the measurement results of products and ensures compliance with work order requirements.
  • Uses and maintains various inspection fixtures, gages, and measuring devices to ensure that accurate measurements are completed.
  • Assists in the maintenance and calibration of inspection equipment to ensure accurate readings.
  • Actively participates in LEAN projects and activities and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Reviews quality documentation to ensure accuracy and collaborate with Engineering for necessary corrections.
  • Works closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to investigate and correct various quality issues related to internal non-conformances, supplier issues, customer complaints and corrective action requests.
  • Coordinates and performs containment activities of nonconforming items.
  • Participates in third-party and internal audits as a Quality representative for the machine shop.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use and read micrometers, calipers, optical measurement systems, CMM’s and other measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Understands and demonstrates comprehension of drawings, blueprints and Manufacturing Work Instructions.
  • Must be detail-oriented to keep accurate records and files.
  • Basic CMM programming abilities is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with limited information.
  • Able to communicate effectively with management, machinists, and co-workers to promote strong working relationships and create an environment focused on teamwork.
  • Flexible with work and job assignments and willing to perform any function as needed.
  • Must be dependable and available to work overtime when required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook, SAP, and able to learn new software programs.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Possess basic computer skills including database software and electronic mail software.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction, and no color blindness, steady hands with good dexterity. (Company issued annual eye exam.)
