Job Title: Mechanical Inspector
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Quality
Report to (Title): VP, Quality, Service and Compliance
Brief Summary of Position
Under minimal supervision, independently performs duties to ensure that all manufacturing and inspection activities are performed in compliance with process work documents.
Responsibilities
- Inspections: Performing visual and dimensional inspections on mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems using precision measuring instruments and tools.
- Material Verification: Checking that materials conform to specifications and standards.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring that products meet established quality standards and regulations.
- Defect Identification: Identifying and documenting non-conformities and defects in materials, parts, or assemblies.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of inspection results, including test data and reports.
- Collaboration: Working with engineering and production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Process Improvement: Participating in root cause analysis for defects and contributing to the improvement of manufacturing processes.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all inspection activities adhere to safety protocols.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Some college or related trade school education a plus
- 2-5 years’ experience in mechanical inspection or related field
- Thorough understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques
- Excellent math and computer skills necessary for measuring, calibrating, and calculating specifications
- Intelligence to assess and identify damaged parts and products during the manufacturing process
- In-depth understanding to interpret blueprints, technical documents, and manuals to ensure that products meet the standards
- Keen eye for details, thoroughness, and accuracy while performing a task
- Problem-solving mentality and a results-driven approach
- Ability to use quality testing machines, tools, and systems
