MANTECH seeks a highly experienced Mechanical In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Technician to join our team at JEB Little Creek Virginia Beach, VA. This is an onsite position with responsibilities for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of boat systems at waterfront locations.

The role requires reading and validating drawings, supporting shipboard installations, and updating lifecycle data. ASecret clearance is required, and experience with DoD/Navy programs is preferred for this role.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of DoD or Navy engineering/maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and validate drawings, schematics, and engineering change documentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical or networked systems.
  • Experience with pipe fluid systems (fuel, hydraulic, cooling, bilge, lube oil); HVAC; propulsion drives.
  • Familiarity with fleet support processes, technical directives, and modernization programs.
  • Experience with shipboard installations, integration testing, and validation events.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert for troubleshooting, on-call assistance, and system upgrades of boat systems.
  • Conduct boat surveys and inspections, validations, and testing for performance and compliance.
  • Support documentation updates and lifecycle data tracking per program standards.
  • Provide new crew familiarization and share technical information.
  • Capture deviations and ensure configuration control via redlines and SOVTs.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to boost availability and readiness.

Job description

MANTECH seeks a highly experienced and mission-driven Mechanical In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Technician to join our team at JEB Little Creek Virginia Beach, VA. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Serving as a technical expert for troubleshooting, on-call assistance, system upgrades, maintenance, and repair of boat systems and equipment at waterfront craft locations, primarily in the Norfolk area and occasionally around the world.
  • Conducting boat surveys and inspections, assessments, hands-on BOATALT and LAR system validations, and testing to verify system performance, reliability, and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Supporting configuration control, researching and updating technical documentation, supporting boats through availabilities and overhauls, and finding replacements for obsolete parts.
  • Ensuring accurate tracking of technical findings and lifecycle data in accordance with program standards and providing new crew familiarization and sharing technical information.
  • Capturing drawing deviations, or redlined drawing updates, to ensure configuration control, and performing LAR reviews and validations, administering System Operability Verification Tests (SOVT), and completing boat checks.
  • Recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance system availability, readiness, and long-term sustainment effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting DoD or Navy engineering, maintenance, or technical programs.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and validating technical drawings, schematics, engineering change documentation, and system specifications.
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical or networked systems.
  • Experience with mechanical issues such as pipe fluid systems (e.g., fuel, hydraulic, cooling, bilge, and lube oil); heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; and propulsion drive configurations, which may include analysis of aluminum hull repair, corrosion, and pitting conditions.
  • Familiarity with fleet support processes, technical directives, maintenance data systems, and modernization programs.
  • Experience supporting shipboard installations, integration testing, and operational validation events.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy systems in a maintenance or senior fleet sustainment capacity or work for boat builders or on private watercraft.
  • Self-starter with excellent people skills - able to work across teams, organize meetings/boards, and drive change throughout an organization.
Clearance Requirements
  • An active Secret clearance is required for this position.
Physical Requirements
  • You must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • You will need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
  • This role frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • You must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
