Job summary

MANTECH in Virginia Beach seeks an experienced Electrical In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Technician to join our team onsite at JEB Little Creek. This role requires active collaboration with ship crews to ensure vessel readiness.

You will troubleshoot, upgrade, maintain boat systems, conduct surveys and validations, analyze schematics, and manage lifecycle data while supporting shipboard installations and overhauls to sustain mission readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years DoD/Navy experience.
• Active Boat Captain’s License required.
• Experience with electrical/nav systems including navigation, communications, steering, propulsion, HVAC, shore power interfaces.
• Ability to read and validate schematics, engineering change docs and system specs.
• Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, upgrade, maintain boat systems at waterfront locations.
• Conduct surveys, inspections, validations, and testing of BOATALT and LAR systems.
• Support configuration control, documentation updates, and lifecycle data.
• Coordinate with crews and end-customers, sharing technical information and training as needed.
• Capture redlined drawings, administer SOVT, and conduct boat checks.
• Identify process improvements to enhance system availability and sustainment.

Job description

MANTECH seeks a highly experienced and mission-driven Electrical In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) Technician to join our team at JEB Little Creek Virginia Beach, VA. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Serving as a technical expert for troubleshooting, on-call assistance, system upgrades, maintenance, and repair of boat systems at waterfront craft locations.
• Conducting boat surveys, inspections, assessments, hands-on BOATALT and LAR system validations, and testing to verify system performance and compliance.
• Supporting configuration control over dozens of boats, updating technical documentation, supporting overhauls, and identifying replacements for obsolete parts.
• Tracking technical findings and lifecycle data while providing crew familiarization and sharing technical information with end-customers.
• Capturing redlined drawing updates, administering System Operability Verification Tests (SOVT), and completing boat checks.
• Recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance system availability, readiness, and long-term sustainment effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting DoD or Navy engineering, maintenance, or technical programs.
• Must possess an active Boat Captain’s License.
• Focused experience with electrical systems including navigation, communications, steering, propulsion controls, HVAC, and shore power interfaces.
• Significant experience reading, interpreting, and validating technical drawings, schematics, engineering change documentation, and system specifications.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical or networked systems.
• Experience supporting shipboard installations, integration testing, and operational validation events.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy systems in a maintenance capacity, senior fleet sustainment role, or working for boat builders and private watercraft.
• Self-starter with excellent people skills - able to work across teams, organize meetings/boards, and drive change throughout an organization.

Clearance Requirements

• An active Secret clearance is required for this position.

Physical Requirements

• You must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• You will need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
• This role frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
• You must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
