Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking an engineer to support a variety of power plant upgrade and new project efforts under senior staff. You will assist in evaluating conditions, performing calculations, and developing design changes to enhance plant performance, safety, and reliability. Ideal candidates hold a B.S.

in mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering (ABET), with FE desirability. Strong communication, time management, and proficiency in MS Office are required; travel and field work are expected.

Qualifications

  • BS in mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles for solving problems.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam completed or desirable

Responsibilities

  • Assist with evaluating conditions and developing design changes to improve plant performance, safety and reliability.
  • Perform calculations, modifications, and designs under supervision.
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently and travel to client sites as required.
  • Pass security and drug screening and maintain access to nuclear plant sites.

Job description

Individual will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff.
Individual should have working knowledge of evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Individual will assist with performing calculations, modifications, and designs.
Individual must possess technical knowledge of mechanical discipline and ability to work on project teams with other engineers to assist in evaluating conditions and developing design changes which will improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Other Required Qualifications (minimum): All applicants must possess excellent and clear verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Overtime work is required at times. Travel is required to client sites with periods of field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required.
