Job summary

Coffman Engineers in Anchorage, AK is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to contribute to planning and design of HVAC, plumbing, and related building systems. You will work with experienced engineers and project managers on healthcare, education, government, and commercial projects, with exposure to commissioning and energy modeling.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 0–3 years of engineering experience.
• Ability to start in Q1 2027.
• Interest in HVAC, plumbing, and building mechanical systems.
• FE exam pass preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Revit experience and related internships preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and design of HVAC, plumbing, and other building systems.
• Prepare equipment selections, specifications, and load calculations.
• Develop construction documents and coordinate with project teams.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers on healthcare, education, government, and commercial projects.

Job description

Contribute to the planning and design of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems, including equipment selection, specifications, load calculations, and construction documents. Collaborate with experienced engineers and project managers on projects for healthcare, education, government, and commercial clients, with possible exposure to commissioning, energy modeling, and Arctic or Subarctic design.

Requirements: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis from an ABET-accredited program, 0–3 years of engineering experience, and the ability to start in Q1 2027. Candidates should have an interest in HVAC, plumbing, and building mechanical systems, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively; an FE exam pass, relevant coursework, Revit experience, and related internship or professional experience are preferred.
