Job summary

E2 Federal Services, LLC in the US-SC area seeks a Mechanical HVAC Design Principal Engineer to lead complex HVAC design for nuclear/process chemical facilities, including equipment sizing, ducting, and systems integration.

The role requires deep knowledge of NFPA, ASME, SMACNA, and ARI standards, plus field walkdowns and leadership to guide junior engineers, with SRNS program involvement.

Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Apply technical experience in eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical elds, to resolve complex problems.
  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and dicult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
  • Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientic principles.
  • Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution.
  • Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of technology. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identied by management.

  • Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
  • Primary responsibilities include:
  • HVAC design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to calculations for equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure drops, cooling tower sizing, heating and cooling loads, and air balancing.
  • Create/modify piping and instrumentation diagrams, system descriptions, mechanical equipment lists, integration with re protection design, and vendor document reviews.
  • Engineering Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures.
  • Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Qualifications
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Q Clearance Required
  • D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years' experience.
  • MS with 8+ years' experience.
  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering with 10+ years' experience or more. .
  • The following experience/skills are a requirement for this position:
  • Candidate must demonstrate 10 years HVAC design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
  • Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of NFPA 90A, 90B, 91, and 801; ASHRAE Fundamentals; ASME AG-1, 509 and 510; SMACNA; and ARI 410, 430 and 450.
  • Candidate must have the ability to walk down systems in the eld.
  • The following qualications are preferred for this position:
  • Candidate demonstrates experience in 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
  • Previous SRNS design experience and familiarity with the processes and procedures for providing engineering support to SRS facilities is preferred.
  • Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to perform weekly eld walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing.
