Job summary

Dematic seeks a Mechanical Foreman to lead mechanical installation projects across North America, supervising crews, coordinating tasks, and ensuring safety and quality on site. Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2–5 years installing/maintaining conveyor or material handling equipment
  • Travel 100% to customer sites in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • OSHA 30 certification to be acquired upon hire
  • Coordinate daily work activities and supervise progress
  • Coordinate with project teams and other trades
  • Lead small to intermediate teams with diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned mechanical installation tasks safely and efficiently as advised by site supervision
  • Conveyor System Layout & Pre-Assembly: Plan and complete conveyor layouts, verify component fit, and pre-assemble conveyor sections for efficient on-site installation
  • Header Steel, Platform, & Structural Steel Installation: Lead installation of structural elements and frames to ensure accurate installs
  • Take personal responsibility for safety on-site
  • Conveyor Installation, Guardrail, & Rack Systems: Install conveyors, guardrails, and racking with attention to alignment and integrity
  • Equipment Detailing & Run-In Activities: Perform detailed installation tasks and conduct initial run-in testing
  • Provide mentorship, basic training, and support to less experienced personnel
  • Physical demands: lifting at least 50 lbs, walking across large sites in various conditions

Job description

As a Mechanical Foreman, you will lead mechanical installation projects at customer sites across North America. The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for overseeing installation crews, coordinating work assignments, ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and completing projects on time and within budget. This hands-on leadership role requires planning, team guidance, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with project management to deliver successful mechanical system installations.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $50,800 to $69,850 salary at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:
What you will do in this Role:
  • Complete assigned mechanical installation tasks safely and efficiently as advised by site supervision
  • Conveyor System Layout & Pre-Assembly: Plan and complete conveyor layouts, verify component fit, and pre-assemble conveyor sections for efficient on-site installation.
  • Header Steel, Platform, & Structural Steel Installation: Lead installation of structural elements, including header steel, platforms, and other steel frameworks to ensure mechanical systems are securely and accurately installed.
  • Take personal responsibility for your safety and the safety of others on-site
  • Conveyor Installation, Guardrail, & Rack Systems: Install conveyors, safety guardrails, and racking systems with attention to alignment, structural integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Equipment Detailing & Run-In Activities: Perform detailed installation tasks, validate mechanical assemblies, and conduct initial run-in testing to confirm accurate function before commissioning.
  • Provide mentorship, basic training, and support to less experienced personnel
  • Physically handle jobsite demands, including lifting at least 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, and walking across large construction sites in various climates and conditions
What we are looking for:
  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience; technical degree or specialized training preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience installing and/or maintaining conveyor or material handling equipment
  • Travel 100% to customer sites across the United States, using your personal vehicle
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Coordinate daily work activities, assigning tasks and supervise daily progress
  • Conduct daily Tool Box talks, maintain safety documentation as well as Gensuite audits and ensure compliance with safety laws, site policies and company standards
  • Will need to acquire OSHA 30 certification upon hire
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, General Contractors and other trades
  • Ability to lead small to intermediate groups of teams composed of a diverse set of backgrounds and capabilities
  • Ability to detect and resolve technical issues with existing systems and/or work being performed
