Job summary

TAIT in Nashville, TN is seeking a Mechanical Fabricator II to support assembly, preparation, and finishing of TAIT products. You will read blueprints, select materials, perform mechanical assembly, and prepare components for build and delivery, all with minimal supervision and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of relevant industry experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand blueprints, drawings, and/or directions prior to starting a project.
  • Ensure correct materials and components are selected and prepared for assembly.
  • Evaluate the quality of materials, parts, and equipment before starting work; report any concerns to management.
  • Perform mechanical assembly and sub-assembly of components according to specifications.
  • Clean, prep, and stage materials and parts for fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Utilize appropriate hand tools and general fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
  • Perform basic fabrication-related tasks (cutting, drilling, grinding, deburring, and part modification) as needed to support assembly.
  • Maintain accurate dimensional tolerances and product specifications during assembly.
  • Assist with kitting and staging materials to support production flow.
  • Work through roadblocks with minimal guidance; collaborate with design, machining, and other teams as needed.
  • Follow proper communication channels when coordinating with other departments.
  • Conduct quality checks upon completion of assignments; address and report any issues.
  • Maintain traceability requirements by documenting as-built modifications and supporting redline updates.
  • Safely handle materials manually and/or with lifting equipment.
  • Monitor tools for wear or damage and report or address issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upkeep on tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of assembly processes and materials used within the department.
  • Support processes, leads team members to meet production and client expectations.
  • Share knowledge and assist in developing team capabilities.
  • Take initiative to improve processes, organization, and workflow efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding progress and challenges.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and complete work in the appropriate sequence.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including tools and equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform assigned duties in accordance with company policies and expectations.

Position Purpose

The Mechanical Fabricator II will support the assembly, preparation, and finishing of TAIT products. This individual will focus on mechanical assembly, material preparation, cleaning, and basic fabrication processes to ensure components are ready for build and delivery.
