Job summary

Enerfab is seeking a Mechanical Estimator – Estimator II in Lee’s Summit, MO, to lead comprehensive cost estimates for complex industrial construction projects. You will prepare detailed material take-offs, labor and equipment costs, and bid packages, while coordinating with project managers and engineers.

The role emphasizes rigorous cost analysis, value engineering opportunities, and strong vendor relationships to secure competitive bids and ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (CPE preferred).
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in mechanical construction estimating for industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Proficiency with estimating software and tools.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial construction projects, including detailed material take-offs, labor and equipment costs, subcontractor bids, and other project expenses.
• Lead bid preparation, including development of bid proposals, forms, and supporting documentation.
• Conduct in-depth cost analysis, identify cost-saving opportunities, and propose value engineering while maintaining quality.
• Cultivate relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and bids.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to perform quantity take-offs and cost calculations, and generate estimates.
• Maintain meticulous records of estimates, bids, and project documentation and generate reports for management.

Salary Range: $100,000 to $130,000

Key Responsibilities

Project Estimation:

1. Independently prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial construction projects, including detailed material take-offs, labor and equipment costs, subcontractor bids, and other project expenses.
2. Ensure estimates are comprehensive and align with project requirements.

Bid Preparation:

1. Lead the bid preparation process, including the development of thorough bid proposals, bid forms, and all necessary supporting documentation.
2. Collaborate with senior estimators and review teams to refine bid packages.

Cost Analysis:

1. Conduct in-depth analysis of project costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and proposing value engineering alternatives while maintaining project quality.
2. Perform risk assessments and develop contingency plans.

Vendor and Supplier Relations:

1. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing, quotes, and bids for materials and services.
2. Evaluate and negotiate supplier and subcontractor contracts.

Estimating Software:

1. Expertly utilize advanced estimating software and tools to perform quantity take-offs, cost calculations, and generate accurate estimates.
2. Stay current with industry-specific estimating software.

Documentation and Reporting:

1. Maintain meticulous records of estimates, bids, and project documentation, ensuringcompliance with company standards.
2. Generate detailed reports and summaries for estimating and management purposes.

Collaboration and Mentorship:

1. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and junior estimators, to gather project information and coordinate efforts.
2. Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced estimators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (relevant certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) are preferred).
• 3-5 years of progressive experience in mechanical construction estimating, with a strong track record of successfully estimating industrial construction projects.
