Job summary

NOOTER in Perrysburg, Ohio, seeks a Mechanical Estimator to develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates for industrial projects, supporting preconstruction planning and bid proposals.

You will review drawings, specs, and bid packages, perform quantity takeoffs, and collaborate with project management, engineering, procurement, and operations to ensure accurate pricing and competitive bids.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of estimating experience in mechanical construction.
• Experience preparing estimates across multiple design phases or contract methods.
• Experience working with vendor pricing, supplier quotations, and subcontractor input.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, construction drawings, and technical documents.
• Working knowledge of construction estimating databases and estimating tools.
• Knowledge of accounting principles related to cost estimating.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop accurate cost estimates and apply estimating strategies that support project objectives.

DAY IN THE LIFE

As a Mechanical Estimator, you will review project drawings, specifications, bid packages, and technical documents to develop detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates for industrial and commercial construction projects. A typical day may include performing quantity takeoffs, evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotations, participating in pre-bid meetings, conducting jobsite visits, and collaborating with project managers, engineers, procurement professionals, and operations leaders to validate scope and pricing assumptions. You will assess project risks, identify potential cost impacts, analyze market conditions, and prepare competitive bid proposals that support successful project awards. Your work directly influences project planning, contract negotiations, budgeting, and business development efforts while helping ensure the company remains competitive in the industrial construction marketplace.
