Job summary

CCI Mechanical, LLC is seeking a Construction Estimator to join its Mechanical team in Holt, FL. The role involves developing detailed cost estimates for mechanical HVAC and plumbing projects, preparing bid proposals, and collaborating with engineers and project managers to define scope and pricing.

Candidates should have at least five years of mechanical estimating experience, a related bachelor’s degree, and proficiency with estimating software such as ProEst or MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical estimating across government, commercial, and medical sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites; overnight stays may be required.
  • Experience with design-build and design-bid-build RFPs.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate mechanical HVAC and plumbing projects per RFP requirements.

This position will be responsible for oversight and execution of the estimating process for project bids; and following establish standard procedures, methods, processes, and software requirements for estimating. All candidates must be organized, self‑motivated, and have demonstrated skills.

This position will report to our office location in Holt, FL and will travel to project sites that may require overnight stays.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Experience in mechanical HVAC and mechanical plumbing projects is a must.
  • Develop pricing model per RFP requirements.
  • Develop general and special conditions costs.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze project plans and specifications to create detailed cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to determine the scope of work.
  • Utilize estimating software to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Evaluate and select suitable materials and equipment for projects.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals for mechanical projects.
  • Communicate with suppliers and contractors to obtain pricing information.
  • Review constructability issues with key operational staff.
  • Assist with review of subcontractor proposals to ensure scope coverage; and identify scope gap.
  • Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends.
  • Ensure pricing model data accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Ensure effective transfer of awarded projects to field operation staff.
  • Effectively communicate price proposal development process to senior management.
  • Create/manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Professionally communicate in highly stressed environments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical estimating. Experience in various market sectors, including federal government, commercial, and medical are needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering or a related field is desired. The number of years of experience in mechanical estimation and in the mechanical trade will be considered
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently on projects from $50K to $10M
  • Strong understanding of mechanical HVAC systems, plumbing systems and components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Willingness to work closely in a team environment
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Experience with design build and design bid build RFPs
  • Ability to develop competitive price proposals on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal
  • Provide support during project implementation to ensure estimated costs are adhered to.
  • Proficiency with computer software to include MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.). ProEst or similar experience desirable. Utilizing mechanical estimating software to prepare accurate cost estimates is a plus
  • Willingness and the ability to walk project sites to gather information needed to complete a detailed estimate
  • Unrestricted driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel to project sites that may require overnight stays.
Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.

If required, must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times including but not limited to, hard hats, steel‑toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust vision. Must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness.

Working Conditions

Job is performed in a combination of office and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and loud noise.
