Job summary

Robson Forensic seeks a Mechanical Engineer – Industrial/Manufacturing Expert. You will investigate incidents involving equipment, safety products and plant layouts, analyze machine guarding deficiencies, and write clear, scientifically sound reports.

You will also provide expert testimony and apply your deep hands-on experience to determine the root causes and standard of care. The role offers hybrid work options across multiple locations including Lancaster, PA; you will manage 40–60

Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or can obtain licensure in at least one state within 6 months.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 10+ years of manufacturing and production experience spanning design, installation, start-up, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various industrial equipment.
• Experience with design or specification of industrial equipment, material handling equipment (forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes), industrial facility operation and maintenance processes, and utility systems (steam, water, air, gas).
• Desirable: reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), FMEA, root cause failure analysis, site incident investigations, hazard/risk assessments.

You are a P.E. with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of hands‑on manufacturing and production experience. You have a comprehensive understanding of plant and/or process engineering, machine guarding, and hardcore industrial safety experience.

You are already an expert. Robson Forensic will train you to be a forensic expert.

As a Mechanical Engineer – Industrial/Manufacturing Expert, You Will

Requirements

• Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or can obtain licensure in at least one state within 6 months.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering and/or a closely-related field.
• Experience: 10+ years of manufacturing and production experience, including design, installation, start‑up, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting spanning a variety of industrial equipment; expertise must include design or specification of industrial equipment, material handling equipment (such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and cranes), industrial facility operation and maintenance processes, utility systems (steam, water, air, gas, etc.), and manufacturing processes.
• Additional Experience a Plus: Your experience and training in reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM), failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), root cause failure analysis, site incident investigations, and hazard analysis/risk assessments is desirable.
• Skills: Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills; ability to manage a portfolio of 40-60 projects/clients.
• Aptitude: Strong ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, objective evidence for non‑technical audiences.
• Work Style: Approximately 20% travel for inspections; the remainder is focused on analysis and report drafting, working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Prior forensic experience is not required. We seek professionals eager to apply their deep industry knowledge to a challenging new domain.

You must have a clean background screen, a driver’s license, and the ability to drive.
