Job summary

Alliance Machine Systems International, LLC seeks an Engineer Technician I for its Indianapolis, IN site. This entry-level role provides support to the Engineering department under supervision, assisting with assembly, testing, and documentation.

You will work with mechanical engineers on standard product lines, develop diagrams, BOMs, and assist with calibration and maintenance procedures. A foundation in CAD and drawing interpretation is required, with onsite travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of related experience preferred.
• General knowledge of mechanical and control components and standard engineering procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics.
• Proficient with 2-D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent) and 3-D CAD (SolidWorks).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with Epicor is a plus.

THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE LOCATED IN INDIANAPOLIS, IN.

SUMMARY

The Engineer Technician I role is an entry-level support position for the Engineering department. Under close supervision, this position performs assignments designed to support more experienced Engineering personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes the following, other duties may be assigned.)

• Provides production shop support. Tasks may include assembly, wiring, troubleshooting, ring-out and testing of production equipment.
• Performs specific tasks (under the guidance of a more senior Engineering team member) on existing standard product lines. Tasks may include drawing, layout, non-critical component design, non-critical circuit design, etc.
• Provides technical assistance and resolution when mechanical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after construction.
• Collaborates with mechanical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.
• Develops Engineering models and/or drawings (using company standards and tools) including Bills of Materials (BOMs). Ensures that documentation is clear, complete, accurate and compliant with appropriate company standards.
• Assist with and/or maintain documentation related to diagnostics, calibration, and maintenance procedures of equipment.
• Processes assigned Engineering releases, change orders, change requests, redlines and ECRs.
• Completes normal and required administrative tasks (time sheets, logs, etc.)
• Becomes familiar with all company safety standards.
• Performs all commitments/tasks in a timely and professional manner.
• Travel to customer sites to support commissioning and startup of industrial equipment.
• Performs other duties/responsibilities as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Engineer Technician I may be guided or assisted by another Engineers, Engineering Aides or Technicians. This position has no direct reports and is not directly responsible for managing others.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• AA degree in Engineering Design, Engineering Technology, or Related Field. - Preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• 0-2 years’ experience in a related field.

• General knowledge of mechanical and control components and application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in completing a sequence of related Engineering tasks.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Exposure and a general understanding of the following software packages is required:

• 2-D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent)

• 3-D CAD (SolidWorks)

• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)

• Exposure and a general understanding of the following software packages is a plus:

• Epicor

• Ability to read, understand and implement electronic and paper based pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.

• Possesses effective communication skills, a positive “get-it-done” attitude, and the ability to work as part of a team in a demanding production environment.
