Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar required.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical ownership to engineering team and evaluate concepts and risks.
  • Ensure designs meet requirements and perform design reviews with technical staff.
  • Adhere to budget and meet project milestones and customer deadlines.
  • Conduct hardware development, testing, and support prototype to production builds.
  • Document status and communicate with customers and internal teams.
  • Mentor team members with goals and performance evaluations.
  • Develop DFMEA and Validation/Acceptance Test Plans and reports.
  • Utilize CAE resources to validate designs and collaborate with other disciplines.

Roush has an immediate need within our Vehicle Engineering department for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to join our team. The Mechanical Engineering Supervisor will provide technical direction and guidance to a subset of themechanical engineering team and will work on projects for large and small customers to meet specificcustomer requirements and timelines. The role will manage mechanical engineers, assist with program
program quotes and customer interaction, and perform mechanical engineering work.

As Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, you will:
  • Provide technical ownership to your engineering team (evaluate engineering concepts, trade-offs, risk assessment)
  • Ensure product designs meet customer requirements and performance specifications and achieve fit, form and functional requirements through periodic design reviews and direct consultation with technical personnel
  • Adhere to the engineering budget and meet customer defined program milestone dates
  • Conduct hardware development tasks and testing, while supporting prototype, pre-production, and production builds
  • Document and report status internally and externally to customers
  • Provide mentoring, goal setting, and performance evaluations
  • Develop & execute Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Validation and Acceptance Test Plans and Reports
  • Utilize Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) team or resources to analytically validate designs
  • Work with other disciplines to provide inputs (power requirements, facility interface, interconnect, sensors, connectors)
To be considered a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, you will need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 6years of engineering work experience in the Themed Entertainment, Automotive, Aerospace, Automation, Oil and Gas, Defense, or similar industry
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical data to various audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to provide robust solutions to complex problems in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to contribute to quotations and customer proposals by providing labor estimates, scheduling input, and technical clarifications
  • Knowledge of Simulation and Finite Element Analysis in SolidWorks or other computer applications and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
A successful candidate may also have:
  • Master of Engineering or Master of Business Administration or similar
  • Professional Engineering accreditation
  • 10 years of engineering work experience in the Themed Entertainment industry
  • 5 years of experience leading and managing an engineering team
  • Manufacturing experience including machining, metal forming, code welding and composites
  • Experience in the interpretation and application of ASTM-F24 standards
  • Functional understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software SolidWorks, Siemens NX Unigraphics (UG), CATIA, Pro/Engineer (Pro E), or MATLAB
