Job summary

Steven Douglas Corp. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the Mechanical Engineering team and own department performance, standards, and execution. This hands-on leadership role focuses on developing engineers and creating efficient processes for a growing team.

You will guide technical decisions, oversee machine designs, and collaborate across PM, Controls, Manufacturing, and Sales to ensure on-time delivery and quality across diverse custom automation projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering/machine design experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading or managing highly skilled engineering professionals.
• Strong knowledge of machine design principles, components, materials, and tolerancing.
• Advanced experience with 3D CAD; SolidWorks strongly preferred.
• Experience developing and implementing engineering standards, processes, and reusable design solutions.
• Ability to travel to support projects, up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop mechanical engineers and designers to improve team performance.
• Plan and allocate engineering resources across projects based on priorities and schedules.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards and best practices; drive reuse of designs.
• Provide technical leadership for mechanical concepts and detailed machine designs.
• Collaborate with other departments (PM, Controls, Manufacturing, Sales) throughout projects.
• Support design issues through assembly, debugging, testing, installation, and startup.
