Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Fairfax, VA office to assist in the design and production of mechanical construction documents for commercial projects.

You will gain hands-on experience with HVAC and plumbing systems, load calculations, equipment sizing, energy modeling, and BIM, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on office, residential, and institutional projects. This paid program also offers workshops and exposure to senior leaders.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D/3D, Revit MEP, and load calculations is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and production of mechanical construction documents for projects.
• Contribute to design of building systems (HVAC, plumbing) and life safety plans.
• Support load calculations, equipment sizing, energy modeling, and BIM tasks.
