  • Research commercially available equipment resources
  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation
  • Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier disciplines
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions; monitor progress
  • Review project documents for accuracy before final checks
  • Prepare and issue addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other contract-required services

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Freeport, ME to work with experienced engineers and consultants on engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. This internship provides hands-on experience over 10-12 weeks.

You will assist with project design, documentation, coordination, and job site observations while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The team supports commercial, industrial, and institutional markets.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with design portions of mechanical-system projects according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources.

  • Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment-supplier disciplines.
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement.
What You'll Bring
Required Education
  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

State of Maine Pay Range: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
