Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the IT Solutions engineering team in the design, development, and validation of rack- and row-based infrastructure products supporting high-density compute and AI-driven data center applications.

You will gain hands-on experience with CAD modeling, FEA, engineering drawings, and tolerance analysis while supporting senior engineers through the new product development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field.
• Completed at least sophomore year of coursework.
• Foundational understanding of statics, dynamics, materials, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work hands-on in a lab environment.
• Effective communication skills — written and verbal.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and ask questions.

Responsibilities

• Design Support & CAD: Create and update 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• Assist with mechanical design reviews and BOM creation and maintenance.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal validation.
• Document analysis results and test findings with clear reporting.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with senior engineers across disciplines and support manufacturing during integration.
