Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Butler, PA is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern. Under supervision, you will support engineering duties, apply engineering principles, and contribute to real-world maintenance and design tasks.

Responsibilities include predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance; research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, and repair machinery; read blueprints and reports; analyze performance and suggest improvements; participate in project planning and cost control.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical degree.
• Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and/or perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance of equipment.
• Research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, re-design, operate, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment.
• Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those requiring scheduled shutdowns or breakdown action.
• Participate in planning, scheduling, and cost control of maintenance/engineering projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
• Various other projects as needed to support the business.

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, the projects assigned will vary based on the intern's education level and plant location, but will generally reflect the duties outlined below. Under the guidance of appropriate supervisory personnel, a mechanical engineering intern will utilize engineering and technology principles to assist in the performance of engineering duties.
