Job summary

Dewberry in Nashville, TN is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join a project team and assist in designing building mechanical systems (plumbing, fire protection and HVAC). The internship offers hands-on exposure to real projects and mentorship within a structured Summer Intern Program.

You will gain experience preparing calculations, drawings, specifications, and budgets, and you will work with engineers and other interns on diverse projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous internship with a consulting engineering firm is a plus.
  • Certification as an Engineering Intern (NCEES) is a plus.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, MS Word and MS Excel is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mechanical engineering calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, schedules and budgets for building mechanical and utility distribution systems under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
  • Be able to work in diverse teams and interact with project team members, clients and contractors.
  • Demonstrate written and oral communication and organizational skills throughout the design and construction process.

Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Nashville, TN office to work with a project team and assist in the design of building mechanical system (plumbing, fire protection and HVAC) projects. The position requires a strong technical background, excellence in design, attention to detail and quality control, and the ability to work in a team environment.

*A housing stipend may be offered to eligible candidates.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.
