Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. seeks a temporary, full-time engineering intern for its Food & Beverage group for May/June 2026 to Aug/Sep 2026.

You will assist engineers with mechanical design for large-scale facilities, perform design calculations, and help prepare reports, with possible field inspections and travel to job sites. Ideal candidates have four semesters of ME coursework and exposure to thermodynamics, refrigeration, and HVAC, plus experience in design or construction and proficiency with

Responsibilities

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a position available for a temporary, full-time engineering intern to join our Food & Beverage group starting in May/June 2026 and ending in August/September 2026.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting engineers with mechanical design for large-scale food and beverage facilities
• Performing design calculations; developing engineering design tools
• Assisting with project report preparation
• Performing field inspections
• Additional duties as assigned

Some travel to job sites may be required.

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:

• Four semesters of college-level coursework in mechanical engineering
• Mechanical design coursework in thermodynamics, refrigeration, and/or HVAC
• Experience in the design or construction industry
• Experience with HVAC load fundamentals
• Experience with Microsoft Office software

Physical Abilities:

• Capacity to work long hours on foot, often in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Must be able to ascend & descend a 30’ OSHA fixed ladder
• Good eyesight for inspecting equipment and ensuring safety compliance
• Ability to discern and react to auditory cues in a noisy construction environment
• Must be able to speak & write fluent English
• Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to multiple food ingredients

Hourly Rate Range: $20.00- $25.00 per hour - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
