Job summary

GHD is seeking a Mechanical Facilities Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Design Organization, working with Senior Mechanical Engineers on industrial mechanical and process piping projects including manufacturing facilities, gas and liquid transfer systems, and ventilation design.

The role offers a hybrid work model with in-office collaboration three days a week, and opportunities to contribute to material selection, hydraulic calculations, and equipment specifications while gaining

Qualifications

• Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong design interest in solid body mechanics, thermal fluid science, heat transfer and dynamics of rotating equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Willingness to travel and work in the field (possible overnight travel).

Responsibilities

• Determine material of construction requirements for piping and storage tank systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for fluid transfer systems.
• Perform basic mechanics of materials calculations for piping design.
• Developing specifications for procurement of pumps, compressors, blowers, and industrial ventilation systems

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Mechanical Facilities Engineering Intern to join our Engineering Design Organization! In this role, you will work alongside our Senior Mechanical Engineers on a variety of industrial mechanical and process piping projects which involve the design of manufacturing facilities, compressible gas and liquid transfer facilities and industrial ventilation systems.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Determine material of construction requirements for piping and storage tank systems.
• Perform hydraulic calculations for fluid transfer systems.

What you will bring to the team:

• Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Must possess strong design interest in solid body mechanics, thermal fluid science, heat transfer and dynamics of rotating equipment
• Skills with Microsoft Office Suite of software tools
• Ability travel and work in the field as needed (may include overnight travel)

Salary Range: $22.00 - $24.00 based on experience and location.
