Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking an engineering leader with a PE license to oversee mechanical design for complex building projects. You will lead staff, ensure quality plans, and manage budgets and timelines with a focus on code compliance and sustainable design.

In this role you will mentor engineers, coordinate with managers, suppliers, and contractors, and deliver presentations. A strong writing ability and interpersonal skills are essential in a fast-paced, timeline‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a PE license are required.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong technical writing skills and knowledge of building codes.
• Experience supervising a team and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Knowledge of sustainable certification programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an engineering leader and technical expert, answering questions and resolving issues brought by the staff.
• Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for staff to use.
• Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.
• Check and confirm the accuracy of work performed and the methods used by engineering staff.
• Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors.
• Prepare and deliver various engineering‑related presentations, both internally and externally.
• Perform department management activities, including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership.
