Job summary

Lexington Medical, Inc. in Bedford, MA seeks a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to design, test, and document components for the AEON Endostapler. The six-month, full-time term sits with our R&D team on-site in Bedford, giving real scope on real products used in operating rooms.

You'll move from CAD and drawings to lab testing, fixture builds, and production-ready documentation, gaining hands-on experience with design, prototyping, and regulatory documentation for medical devices.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Prior internship, co-op or hands-on project experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD and reading/creating engineering drawings including GD&T basics.
• Comfortable with mills, lathes, band saws, and belt sanders.
• Ability to operate FDM and SLA 3D printers is a plus.
• Experience with machining, injection molding, or metal stamping is a plus.
• Coursework or project experience in design of experiments, statistics, or test method development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and revise components and drawings per Lexington Medical standards.
• Design test fixtures to characterize performance and fabricate them in part using outsourcing and in-house prototyping.
• Plan and run engineering tests on new products and document test protocols and results.
• Operate lab equipment with minimal supervision (mills, lathes, test stands, 3D printers).
• Perform dimensional and functional quality checks with calipers, micrometers, and inspection instruments.
• Complete required quality system documentation for FDA and internal audits.
