Job summary

Lexington Medical, based in Bedford, Massachusetts, is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to design fixtures and specify robotics and automation equipment for AEON surgical stapling products. You will develop tooling in SolidWorks, source production equipment, and provide on-floor engineering support to improve quality and throughput.

Early-career engineers will gain hands-on experience on a live line, working with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams under a regulated quality

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with expected graduation May/June 2027.
• No professional experience required; internship, co-op, or project experience on mechanical/electromechanical equipment is preferred.
• Proficient in 3D CAD; SolidWorks preferred.
• Coursework or hands-on experience with machining, injection molding, or assembly processes.
• Coursework or hands-on experience wiring sensors, I/O, and motor control from schematics.
• Willing to spend real time on a production floor, hands-on with equipment.
• Exposure to robotics, automation, PLCs, or motion control is a plus.
• Internship or co-op in medical device or regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design semi-automated, automated, and manual fixturing and tooling for manufacturing operations.
• Work with external vendors to source production equipment.
• Develop and implement manufacturing processes that scale with production volume.
• Provide engineering support on the production floor, troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
• Write and maintain manufacturing work instructions and process documentation.
• Train production personnel on new and revised processes, and support continuous improvement and quality projects.
