Job summary

Meiden America Switchgear, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Associate to develop, review, and maintain mechanical design documentation for customer-specific orders.

You will produce P&D drawings, 3D models, and outlines, and support production by resolving design issues and managing BOMs. The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/In Inventor), and ERP/BOM experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using SolidWorks or Inventor.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM management (SAP or similar).
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain mechanical outlines, P&D drawings, and 3D CAD models based on Customer Order Documents.
  • Produce accurate mechanical vendor drawings for miscellaneous parts (brackets, panels, frames, etc.).
  • Perform drawing reviews to ensure accuracy and proper revision control.
  • Build and maintain BOMs using ERP software, ensuring correct part data and routing.
  • Support production by solving design issues, issuing changes, and communicating solutions to all departments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, and quality teams to maintain design integrity.

The Mechanical Engineering Associate supports the Customer Order Engineering Group by developing, reviewing, and maintaining mechanical design documentation for customer‑specific orders. This role focuses on producing accurate mechanical outlines, P&D drawings, and 3D models, performing detailed drawing reviews, managing Bills of Material (BOMs), and providing hands‑on support to production teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain mechanical outlines, P&D drawings, and 3D CAD models based on Customer Order Documents.
  • Produce accurate and timely mechanical vendor drawings for miscellaneous parts (brackets, panels, frames, etc.).
  • Perform critical drawing reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper revision control.
  • Build and maintain Bill of Material (BOM) using ERP software, ensuring correct part data and routing.
  • Support production by solving minor design problems, issuing and resolving ECR (change requests), and communicating issues and solutions to other departments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, and quality teams to maintain design integrity.
Position Requirements (knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform satisfactorily in the position):
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and mechanical drafting (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM management (SAP or other).
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
