Jobot is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support existing power rack designs in Sunnyvale, CA. This 5-month, on-site contract focuses on maintaining and updating mechanical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation within an established hardware environment.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in mechanical engineering and strong experience with design updates, revision control, and Arena/PLM systems, enabling seamless integration into the team and its processes.

Qualifications

Mechanical Engineer - Temporary

$50 - $70 per hour | Sunnyvale, CA | On-site | Consulting

5 month contract supporting the mechanical engineering team

A bit about us:

We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support existing power rack designs across multiple hardware platforms. This position will focus primarily on maintaining and updating current mechanical designs, drawings, top-level assembly (TLA) BOMs, and engineering documentation.

This is not a concept or new product design role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable stepping into an established hardware environment, making design updates, maintaining accurate engineering documentation, and managing changes through Arena/PDM.

The assignment is expected to last approximately five months to cover a maternity leave.

Responsibilities

• Support existing power rack designs across multiple hardware platforms


• Make updates and revisions to existing mechanical designs


• Create, revise, and maintain mechanical drawings and related engineering documentation


• Maintain and update top-level assembly (TLA) bills of materials (BOMs)


• Process engineering changes and maintain accurate revision control


• Manage design and documentation updates within Arena/PDM


• Ensure drawings, BOMs, and product documentation remain accurate and consistent


• Work within established mechanical designs and product requirements


• Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to implement required changes


• Support documentation and knowledge transfer during the transition periods at the beginning and end of the assignment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline


• Professional experience supporting mechanical designs for complex hardware products or systems


• Strong experience creating and revising mechanical drawings


• Experience maintaining BOMs and engineering documentation


• Hands‑on experience with engineering change control and revision management
  
• Experience working within a PDM/PLM system; Arena experience is highly preferred


• Ability to understand and modify existing mechanical designs rather than focusing solely on new concept development


• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate engineering documentation


• Ability to quickly become productive within an established engineering environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting racks, enclosures, power systems, servers, data center equipment, or other complex electromechanical hardware


• Experience with top-level assemblies and multi-platform hardware products


• Previous experience with Arena PLM/PDM


• Experience supporting sustaining engineering or product lifecycle activities


• Comfortable working on a short-term contract assignment and taking ownership of established engineering work
