Ardurra Group seeks a Mechanical Engineer Team Lead - MEP in Durham, NC to head the MEP Division. The role partners with leadership and project managers to support clients and projects in education, healthcare, and municipal sectors.

The candidate will manage the MEP team, drive design strategies, and maintain strong client relationships, while guiding proposals and winning new work. Hybrid work option available in the Raleigh/Durham area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina.
• 10+ years in design and construction of buildings and MEP systems.
• Ability to lead MEP engineers and staff while acting as Project Manager.
• MEP experience in K-12, higher education, healthcare, life sciences, municipal and state facilities preferred.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of the MEP team in the Durham, NC office.
• Provide leadership and guidance on MEP design and PM for diverse projects (new and renovations).
• Develop and implement MEP design strategies compliant with codes and standards.
• Be main client contact and maintain strong client relationships.
• Forecast, manage budgets, and achieve financial targets.
• Negotiate fees, contracts, and deliverables internally and externally.
• Drive business development to expand the MEP Division in Raleigh/Durham area.
• Seek new opportunities and secure work with new clients.
• Ensure adequate resource levels and hire staff as needed.

Primary Function:

RVE is seeking a licensed engineer with strong technical, project management, client relationship and leadership capabilities to run our MEP Division in the Durham, NC office. This individual will partner with our Practice Director, Group Leader, and Project Managers to support our clients and projects.

Primary Duties:

• Day to day management of the MEP team in the Durham, NC office
• Provide leadership and guidance to engineers in the application of MEP design and project management for K-12, higher education, healthcare, life sciences, municipal and state projects (new construction and renovations)
• Develop and implement MEP design strategies based on client input and compliance with local, state and national codes and standards
• Acting as the main point of contact and maintaining a good working relationship with clients
• Financial forward planning, managing and achieving targets and budgets
• Negotiating fees, contracts and deliverables internally and externally
• Be a driver for business development centered on expansion of the MEP Division in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina
• Responsible for seeking new opportunities with new clients and securing work for the firm
• Ensuring adequate resource levels within the office
• Hiring new staff and managing the team structure

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required, Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of North Carolina
• 10+ years of experience in design and construction of innovative and technically challenging buildings and MEP systems
• Ability to manage teams of MEP Engineers and technical staff while acting as Project Manager for design projects
• MEP Experience within K-12, higher education, healthcare, life sciences, municipal, and state facilities preferred
• Demonstrated client management skills and ability to easily maintain relationships while simultaneously winning new work and growing the business
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Existing network of business contacts for potential projects preferred but not required
• Proven record of preparing qualifications based on proposals, and winning work
• Experience with sustainability designs preferred
• Position will occasionally require work in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions
• Work frequently requires prolonged computer use
• May occasionally be required to list up to 25 lbs
