Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Starship Components Manufacturing to design and optimize high‑reliability flow control devices and actuators for Starship and Super Heavy, working with cross‑functional teams.

You will advance manufacturing processes, support testing, and lead root-cause investigations to improve yield, with opportunities to contribute to flight-like testing and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics or an engineering discipline is required.
• 1+ years of mechanical design and hands-on manufacturing experience (internships and project teams qualify).
• Experience leading or mentoring teammates is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design the factory and process to deliver high-quality flow control devices and actuators for Starship and Super Heavy.
• Question assembly/test requirements, optimize production flow, and implement targeted automation.
• Collaborate with development and design engineers, machine shops, and vendors for manufacturability.
• Maintain clear work instructions and track defects and part movement.
• Support component-level testing and investigations to improve yield.
• Aim for zero workmanship defects and scale for commercial and crewed missions.
