Mechanical Engineer (Spring Co-op)

We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Spring Co-op) to support the design and integration of robotic systems in our flagship sorting solution. This role will contribute to mechanical development rapid prototyping, system testing, and custom design while collaborating closely across electrical, software, and controls teams to deliver robust systems.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:

• Conduct in-house prototyping and testing efforts to rapidly evaluate design concepts
• Support complete systems including installation, troubleshooting, and iterative design improvements
• Design mechanical systems and components - including structures, robots, and operator interfaces with a focus on performance, durability, and cost
• Perform detailed 3D CAD modeling, engineering analysis, and design validation

Qualifications

Required

• Skilled in building and testing electromechanical prototypes in the workshop
• Experience designing mechanical structures and components in steel, aluminum, and various plastics
• Proficiency in at least one 3D CAD platform (Onshape, SolidWorks)
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes (sheet metal, extrusion, casting, etc.)
• Strong engineering analysis skills including use of AI tools
• Experience integrating robotics and automation into mechanical designs, ideally in industrial environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and present complex technical concepts
• Highly self-motivated and thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional startup environments
• Ability to work in-person in Woburn, MA
• Available from January - June 2027
