Salary ranges vary based on position and union status, including Assistant Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer I, II, and III, with specific pay scales and new hire rates detailed for each level.
Responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and supervising the construction and rehabilitation of bus depots, including systems such as HVAC, Building Management Systems, Fueling Systems, Bus Washers, Vehicle Lifts, and other mechanical equipment. They will also design industrial building systems like heating, cooling, and water systems, inspect equipment, prepare construction documents, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Knowledge of CAD programs such as Bentley MicroStation and Microsoft Office is required. The role involves supporting mechanical functions related to bus structures and air systems, conducting research, creating technical drawings, and participating in related engineering tasks.

Education and Experience
Assistant Mechanical Engineer: Bachelor's in mechanical engineering plus one year of experience or a Master's degree. Mechanical Engineer I: NYS Professional Engineer license and four years of experience. Mechanical Engineer II & III: Additional experience as a project leader or major contributor on complex projects within the last three years.
